excellent and inventive versioning in an authentic style with a nod to the present - along with a few others, manasseh keeps the flag waving - i'm not familiar with the source album, but with respect to pama intl, i don't need to be - a valid piece of work!
Favorite track: Betterment Dub.
Pama Int'l meets Manasseh - Trojan Sessions in Dub CD version comes in a hand-numbered thick card wallet. Here at Pama Intl/Happy People Records we think there is enough plastic in the world so try to minimise our enviromental impact, and still give you a lovely package collectors piece. Very much in the spirt of the late 70s UK DIY scene.

In 2006 Pama International became the first new band to sign to the legendary Trojan Records in 30 years.
The album 'Trojan Sessions' was produced by band founder/writer/keyboardist Sean Flowerdew and Nick Manasseh and featured numerous reggae legends including; Rico Rodriguez, Derrck Morgan, Dawn Penn, Dave & Ansel Collins, Dennis Alcapone and more.
4 dubs were also released at the time on the bands own (now defunct) Rockers Revolt label on 10" vinyl, but this has long since been unavailable.
Now, for the first time, we are delighted to be releasing all 8 Manasseh dubs from the Trojan Sessions. Veering from the thunderous to the excisite it's a wonder these dubs have gone unreleased for so long.
For those of you new to Manasseh...
Manasseh Sound System was built in 1985 by a group of friends ready for the Sunday morning of Notting Hill Carnival, with the aim of playing reggae with a roots focus, and was based in West London. Nick Manasseh started producing the same year, beginning with Sound Iration with Scruff, credited as the beginning of UK steppas. In 1987 Nick began his show on Kiss FM, brought in by brothers Norman and Joey Jay to play 3-7am whilst the station was a pirate, and later on FM as 3-6am, until Kiss was re-programmed in 1999.
The Riz Label was started by the Manasseh crew in 1991, releasing the first Manasseh Meets The Equalizer (AKA Jeremy Armstrong) album in 1992- 'Dub The Millennium', which was then licensed to Acid Jazz, followed by, 'Shining' in 1996, and finally, 'Step Like Pepper', in 2003. Nick has since produced countless tracks, remixes and albums from world class musicians including Emeliana Torrini, Lee Perry, Brother Culture and Earl 16.
Most recently produced by Nick are the wave of productions for Roots Garden Records storming the UK reggae charts, beginning in 2004 with Johnny Osbourne's 'Black Star Liner'. Releases have since included collaborations with Ava Leigh, Luciano, Ras Zacchari, Levi Rhythm, Bob Skeng, Dark Angel, Cate Ferris and Brother Culture. In the last few years, Nick has produced several albums on Roots Garden, including Earl 16's 'Gold Dust', Brother Culture's 'All A We' and Vin Gordon & The Real Rock Band's 'Revenge'.
Since the Sound System began in 1985, Nick has been a DJ all over the world, travelling to countless countries and continents and still continues to do so, working with many talented singers and collaborators. Branching out into other projects, Nick has also done sound design for Julian Temple film 'BabyLondon', and worked with 12-piece band from the Solomon Islands, Narasirato, Pama International, Soothsayers and Johnny Clarke.

A Nice little Ska sampler . a lot of great tracks, the best being The Scotch Bonnets - Sheena Is A Punk Rocker! Avoid the Sham 69 cover - just as bad as the original. Erasmus Windage
